Last week, Us Weekly’s sources had an interesting scoop – they claimed that Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds were going to buy some property in Connecticut. Blake and Ryan have been together since last fall (at least) and they went from “casually dating” to “completely and utterly loved-up” in about two seconds. They vacation together in Utah, in Vancouver, in New Orleans, and time and time again, in Connecticut. Connecticut is their WASPy home away from home. So… I tended to believe Us Weekly. If they were going to buy real estate outside of Manhattan, it probably would be in Connecticut. But People Magazine says not so much! They say Ryan and Blake have already bought a country home – in Bedford, NY.

The couple, who were first linked late last year, “bought a beautiful country home” in Bedford, N.Y., a source tells PEOPLE.
And it’s not too shabby. “The house cost more than $2 million,” the source said of the property.
The actors, who starred together in the super-hero film The Green Lantern, have been spotted in Boston, New York City and New Orleans but seem to have found the perfect place for settling down.
They’ve been seen around town doing everything from horseback riding, to buying chocolate milk and dining at the Bedford Post Inn.

I had to MapQuest this junk because I don’t know anything about New York state localities. Apparently, Bedford is 48 miles outside of NYC, and it takes a little more than an hour to get to Bedford from Manhattan. Although… that doesn’t seem right. It seems like it would take a lot longer, depending on the traffic. But in theory, Bedford is an hour outside of the city, a perfect distance for a “weekend getaway” house. I’d love to see photos – you know Blake is going to have fun decorating! I bet she really wanted a place in Connecticut, but they settled on Bedford because of the commute… or maybe tax purposes? I don’t know. I do know that I wouldn’t be surprised AT ALL to hear about Blake and Ryan’s engagement sometime soon.

This is the town I live in! It literally takes an hour by train, about 50 minutes by car to get in. I make the commute every day.
The Bedford Post Inn is Richard Gere’s restaurant/yoga place and it’s surprisingly affordable (and really delicious) for the area.
If they were looking for lower taxes, they would have picked CT because Westchester taxes are through the roof.
Anyway, I’m armed with my phone to take pictures when I see them. It’s a small town and I’m determined.
This just reminded me of that Gere story….wonder if Richard likes gerbils,too…lol.

Sorry, but Ryan comes across to me as mad needy. After 1 failed engegment and 1 failed marriage one would imagine he would take time out. I know, I know he nailed Charlize Theron, Olivia Wilde and some German model. But he could be like Ewan Macgregor and go biking round the world, bi-planing or some ish.
Settling down with another blonde 10 years his junior is a recipe for disaster IMO. And I don’t care what peeps says, I don’t believe at the age of 24, Blake wants to move to the country and bake cakes and do school runs as her master plan.
How long were he and Scarlett 2gether b4 they were married? And according to this month’s Vogue she internalised herself and found she was not happy were she was at at her age then.

i agree. she’s reeled him in with cakes and cooking, and will soon get tired of it, while he will continue to expect it. i don’t think they’ll get married. either way, they’re plain lukewarm oatmeal. ha!

I really think Blake likes to be “the perfect girlfriend” who bakes and take care of him but this is not going to last.This girl spent the last 5 years trying to happen and suddenly she wants to live in the suburbs and be a perfect housewife? She probably wants that kind of life but I’m not convinced she wants it now.
And what is wrong with Ryan? He just seems like the kind of guy who always needs a woman to take care of him.
Ryan and Scarlett got together shortly after he and Alanis Morisette split and were married a little over a year later. His relationship with Alanis lasted almost twice as long and they seemed a lot closer than he and Scarlett even though they never married.
I don’t know how long their relationship has been brewing, but he’s known Blake for a couple years now. Around this time last year he said said he didn’t think he wanted to be married again. He went out with several women, but I don’t believe Olivia Wilde was among them.
Most married women have careers outside the home, and it’s possible to commute, or better yet have a city place and a place to get away on the weekends.
Of course a lot of married woman works outside their home! No one said that Blake should stop working because she’s in a relationship. I think they’re in love and if they get married I’ll be happy for them. But there is a difference between a married woman who commutes every day and a young and ambitious actress like Blake.
“Savages” could bring her a lot of attention and Gossip Girl is coming to an end. And no I don’t think that you can play the all Hollywood game AND maintain the kind of relationship they have right now.
Maybe so. Time will tell. But she’s maintained from the get go that she wanted a family and to own a restaurant or three. She doesn’t strike me as the type to foresake those ambitions to star in dodgy romcoms or something.
AGREE. I did not go see his last movie and doubt that I will see another one.
Together, they have become a boring couple. Apparently, he is a home body and a ten year difference in age will
have Blake bored soon enough.

Blake and Scarlett are 2 different women with different goals. Blake has said on interviews that she wants “lots of babies” Scarlett and her Grandmother both said you don’t need babies concentrate on your career. Seeing Ryan hiking w/Sandra’s son on his back gives you an idea about him. Unlike most Hollywood couples, they are seen often with their families and friends. There may be marriage and babies around the corner for these 2. God Bless them!!

Also the town I live in. We are a stones throw from Greenwich CT and New Canaan CT which I believe they were both spotted in. The nice thing about Bedford is that there are town ordinances where you can’t build too close together and so there are old historic houses and very few McMansions (Unlike Greeenwich) It’s super close to the city either by train or driving. I used to work in NYC and did the commute everyday. I will also be armed with my phone – The Marra girls (Rooney and I forget the other one) are also from here. We have a super cute movie theater (Bedford Playhouse) where there are sightings of the “Clinton’s” (they are a town over in Chappaqua) – I will be on the lookout – gonna have to schedule some date nights with hubby to see if we can catch a glimpse.

I guess old Ryan is a relationship guy, he likes being in them. I don’t see anything wrong with that. I’m not even sure that it makes him needy. If he “dated” all and sundry, he’d just be considered a playa (unwanted image of Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder going thru my mind). Anyway, beyond the tabbloid tittle tattle I don’t know much about Blake. Hope they enjoy their time together.
Well, since I don’t know either of them, I guess all I can say is that they look happy together. I remember when “Green Lantern” was filming all the gossip was that Blake was really, really into Ryan, who was married at the time. Once he wasn’t (and by all accounts, including ScarJo’s, that decision was hers), Blake moved in. Reminds me a bit of Jennifer Garner’s massive crush on Ben Affleck during the filming of “Daredevil.” Once he split with Lopez, she was loved up and pregnant with him within 6-8 months.
Both Blake and Ryan seem like relationship people, rather than serial daters.
So if he’s a serial dater having flings every five minutes, he’s a cassanova and it’s a problem. He likes being in relationships and is clearly a one-woman man, and he’s needy and it’s still a problem. Blake is all over the red carpet and in pap photos, she’s a famewhore. Blake settles down with a guy she’s clearly madly in love with and it won’t last, she’ll be bored and it’s a problem. WTF people? This idea that 24 year olds don’t know what they want and will be bored easily and all the rest of it is just massive generalisation. Blake has always said she’s a homebody and wants lots of kids early. Knowing that it’s no surprise they’re this serious. They seem really happy with each other, can’t hate on that.

I don’t believe a very very ambitious young lady who successfully wooed the fashion world, getting designers as her BFF; successfully charmed directors; was prepared to travel the extra mile to Boston to audition for a breakthrough role; hired one of the most powerful PR reps in the biz, is prepared to pack it in to become a mom of 2.4 children in her early 20’s. And no I don’t think you can have both.
I hope for the relationship’s sake ‘Savages’ is a flop, cos if it hits and with Gossip Girl ending Ryan is about to get a second dose of Scarlett fever.
Oh and the Jen Garner comparison is kinda disingenuous. First Jennifer was a decade older than Blake when Ben wifed her so maybe her best days were already behind her (lets not even get into the – ahem – rebound theory form the preceding Bennifer mess). Second Blake is in a very competitive demographic for roles – Emmas, Jennifers, Mias – and I don’t think she can successfully work HW and be a homemaker at the same time.
As the Bitter Pill fiasco showed there’s always someone to take your place.
Funny you mention Bitter Pill because obviously the relationship didn’t stop her from auditioning and winning the role in the midst of their house hunting.
It is highly competitive and the good roles a few and far between. That’s why even some of the more famous are accepting dodgy parts. They’re not happy unless they’re working on a film. I’m not sure Blake is on board with that.

#oh come on, like most girls, Blake went fishing and tried to be what Ryan wants, then she’ll try to change him. That old rule isn’t just applicable to unknown people. I just don’t see the suburbs being what she’s after. Maybe it’s her blondeness but I see her as an LA girl.
Beford is a really nice suburb, I bet they’ll love it there. There are a bunch of stables and beautiful big properties. Its not really any different from the CT towns that it’s right across the border from, and honestly its nicer than some of them. Maybe Blake needed a bigger kitchen to cook in? Saying that, and how 50s it sounded, makes me wonder if Ryan likes to cook at all? Is he going to start firing up the grill in the backyard for patio parties??

Hah, they picked Westchester over CT! I’m from southern Westchester along the Long Island Sound and I’ve never actually been to Bedford. Guess I’ll be stalking them when I go home.
Well, I’m with the folks who thinks Blake’s got it figured out about Hollywood and has the resources to have a career outside of Hollywood. She’s career-minded, sure, but she may have seen enough of the rot in that town and has enough money and contacts and intelligence to do something else and still make a good living. And I can’t help but think Ryan was bored stiff by Scarlett, who, nice though she may be and even though he may have loved her, doesn’t give the impression (unlike Blake) that she could do something else career-wise besides acting. In fact, Blake’s always struck me as more business-minded or entrepeneurial than actress-y. I do think she’ll go far actually. And i dunno…she may be hot right now, but again, she also has enough resources to be choosy, and not have work in movies all the time. She may be deciding to take a path of working only in select movies instead of in as many as she can fit in.
Blake has said that she wants to own a continental restaurant and become an interior designer. which sounds about right. I have never read or heard her say she loves hollywood. They can use their connections in hollywood and have a normal life as well. This sounds like 2 people who know that hollywood has a SHELFLIFE. If she and Ryan do a movie a year OR never do another one. I do not think they will be broke they seem to be extremely practical. Go Figure
Why can’t she have a career and a successful marriage, and really he obviously must know what he wants now that he has already been in a bad marriage so i think they have a good chance I do hope this time he has found what he’s looking for, they look so happy I’m green with envy.
